Room 25 - More Persuasive Writing
The children in Room 25 have been learning to write persuasive text. They are able to form and state an opinion about a topic, support it with reasons and link their conclusion to their introduction.
I believe that we should be allowed to play on our scooters at play time.
Room 25 Term 3 Persuasive Writing
This term the children are learning to write persuasive text. They are learning to form and state their opinion about a topic and then support it with reasons. Later we will be looking at using emotive language in our persuasive texts and making advertisements to encourage people to come to New Zealand. Below are some of our first efforts in persuasive writing. You can see they clearly follow the correct format of an introduction stating a position, reasons to support them, and a conclusion.
Room 25 Photos of our Science Display
The children have learnt so much this term about plants, photosynthesis, the life cycle of a seed and much more. We have made mini greenhouses, seen the effects of salt on a plant, planted potatoes in a bucket and planted things close together and far apart. I've been excited to hear that the children have taken their learning home and have been planting things in their own gardens.
Below are some photos taken at our Science Display.
Room 25 - Ideas for the holidays
It’s been a long term and the children have all worked really hard and have learnt a lot.
I know we’re all looking forward to a break, but if you’re children complain about being bored thse holidays below are a few educational websites they might like to go on.
www.spellingcity.com – they can put in some spelling words and the site will put the words into games that they can play, then it will test them.
Room 25's visit by Ian Jones - ex All Black
Today my class got to see Ian Jones, who used to be an All Black. He brought with him some jerseys from rugby teams from some other countries around the world. He also brought an All Blacks jersey which me and some other lucky people got to wear. Next we did some relays, the girls won but that didn’t stop me from having a wonderful time.

Room 25 Explanations
Room 25 have been learning how to write an explanation. An explanation is different to a recount. It starts with a brief description, then has a series of explanatory statements, then ends with a general comment about the topic.
Below are our explanations about the life cycle of a seed.
