Who is 96 years old? Grandpa Joe of course. The old man was so thin that it looked like his bones would poke through his wrinkly old skin at any moment. Grandpa Joe shared the hard old wooden bed with three other grandparents who were also in their nineties. His old body hadn’t got out of bed in twenty years, non stop! He was tired and weak, yet kind because he brought Charlie a chocolate bar that cost all him all of his money. At night, when young Charlie came in, he told many marvelous stories.

Grandpa Joe is 96 years old. He shares his bed with three other people in his family. The old man had not left his bed in 20 years. Every night he told Charlie a story. Some people say he looks like a skeleton. He used to work at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Grandpa Joe is very weak but cheerful as well. He bought a chocolate bar for Charlie with his only money. They were very poor so all they could afford to eat was cabbage soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Grandpa Joe was very excited when Charlie walked in the front door with the golden ticket.
