By completing an enrolment form which can be obtained from the office staff.

School

Each syndicate plans homework activities each term which are designed to complement the class programmes.  These are commonly reading based, spelling, inquiry learning and may include learning basic facts.

These can be accessed through www.ero.govt.nz. Go to advanced search at the top of their homepage and type in Greenhithe School.  Our latest report is April 2009.

There are stationery forms available from the foyer in the office, or you can ask the class teacher.

Yes the school uniform is expected to be worn by all children and this can be purchased from the uniform shop at school or online from the Uniform Centre - www.schooluniformcentre.co.nz.

There are a range of programmes available if a child is identified as having learning difficulties.  These include buddy readers, Lexile reading, cross grouping, small group support, Learning Through Talk and Reading Recovery.  If more support is needed, our Sencos (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators) become involved and contact the appropriate agencies.

Any incident reported by a child about verbal or physical bullying is dealt with immediately by the teacher, duty teacher, Deputy Principal or Principal, as applicable.  Our school has a policy of zero tolerance to any form of bullying.

Most concerns are best dealt with by the class teacher.  If necessary this can be followed up with a meeting with a Syndicate team leader, Deputy Principal or the Principal.

The current fees are $220 per year reducing to $200 if this is paid by the end of Term 2. We also ask for a $60 annual fee which helps to cover the cost of trips out of school and visits in school. This can be paid termly.

Our current roll is 520 and growing!

Please call the school office and make an appointment

My Child

Each syndicate organises cross-grouping for those children who need to work with others of the same ability for maths and reading.  We also run a GATE (Gifted and talented ) programme for those children identified by tests (such as ProEd), by the GATE staff and by the classroom teachers.

There is an after school care facility run by Jiggerbobs in Room 26 from 3pm - 6pm.  Please see the office staff for details.

Please ring the office by 9am and advise.

Children are sent to the office with a note from the teacher.  The First Aid trained office staff tend to the child in the sick bay and the parents are rung.  It is important that you advise the school office immediately if you have a change of phone number.

The teachers will be happy to discuss your child’s progress informally at any time. There is a teacher/parent interview twice yearly (Term 1 and 3) and currently reports are sent home in Terms 2 and 4.

Community

Yes parents and caregivers are always welcome to come into school to help in a variety of ways.  Please see the class teacher initially or pop into the office and talk to the staff there.

Our school is fortunate to have a wonderful PTA who have a strong commitment to raising funds to improve our school’s facilities. If you are interested in coming along to a meeting, with no obligation to join or commit, please watch the fortnightly newsletter for the date of the next meeting.
Over the last 2 years the PTA have organized a school fair, school discos, social functions for the parents, a golf day and numerous other fundraising activities.
