Hatchet

Gary Paulsen wrote ‘Hatchet’, a book about a boy called Brian who is determined to survive in the Canadian wilderness after his pilot had a heart attack and then their plane crashed into a lake. This story links well into last term’s Inquiry topic, ‘Survival’. The story teaches us plenty of useful skills if we ever got into a survival situation. In this story Brian faces some deadly and frightening events that will shake your mind! In Room 18 (old Room 17) we have been quickly racing through the ‘Hatchet’ series and we are already on the fourth book. It is a very interesting book to read and when Mrs Susnjak puts the book away we always ask for more. Brian faces lots of normal issues like his parents getting divorced and things like that. We hope that this blog has made you want to read ‘Hatchet’.
