Our Trip to Hoani Waititi Marae
Here we all are. Rooms 10, 13, 15 and 22 sitting outside the Wharenui (meeting house)

Inside the Wharenui we were able to hongi the Kaumatua (elders of the Marae)

We learned about the Maori carvings, patterns and panels.

We all learned how to do the haka. Boys are meant to do manly movements while the girls do softer movements. It was quite tricky keeping the rhythm!

We got to play games with the rakau sticks. Maui was right and katoua was left.

Inside the Wharekai (dining hall) we learned how to make harakeke - flax flowers.
