The Drug Dog Visit
On Friday the 25th of June
Senior Constable Clark, Constable Bluemel and Archie (the drug dog) came to visit the Year 6 children as part of the D.A.R.E programme.
Constable Clark told us that the drug dogs are trained for 10 weeks. When they train them they start from the hardest drug (very little scent) to the easiest drug (has a strong scent). They have been taught to act passively when they find drugs. We did an exercise where a line of children stood up and one person got given cannabis to put in their pocket for Archie to find. Archie was very successful and found the drug. Then we asked questions about Archie and other police dogs and their
Handlers.
