Principal’s News

Our PRIDE values of Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Diligence and Excellence are very important to us at school. The children are reminded about what these values look like in many contexts around our school, including in the playground, on the sports field and when learning in the classroom. The leadership team of myself, Kelly Knowles and Michelle Butler give out PRIDE certificates when we catch children obviously showing our values, these are displayed in the office, before coming home with the children. It is one of our highlights to see these values being shown around our school. We acknowledge those children who get these awards in the newsletter. In the last two weeks, the children who have gained these awards are: Chloe Simpson-Wereszczynska, Ivy Dakers, Riley Henry

End of Term

Thank you for all your support this term. Every term is very busy at a bustling primary school. This term was no different. We have had kids representing the school through sports including the cross country cluster events, the arts through Kapa Haka, dance and visual art that were on show as part of the Bays Arts Festival and our school based events, including discos, pizza lunches and parent interviews.  Without your support we can’t offer these many opportunities.

We have completed the visits from ERO, who are a Government entity who independently review every school on a rolling cycle.  This reviews our learning provision and compliance with all the regulations and policies that help us keep the children and staff safe at school. While the report hasn’t been officially released yet, I look forward to sharing this with you next term.

I am excited about next term! We have so many amazing things going on. I hope we are able to begin to progress our new playground for the year 1-3 children. I am definitely looking forward to getting the building work on Isobel Road completed! We have our school production (week 7, 28-31 August) to look forward to and we will continue to challenge and support our children on their learning goals.

I’d like to thank our amazing staff, including our teachers, support staff and our caretaker Maeke, who continue to work so hard for our children at Greenhithe. We are sadly farewelling one of our wonderful teachers this term, with Emma Pierce, who teaches in year 6, leaving us to look at opportunities outside of education. She will be missed by all of her colleagues and the children. We have employed Larissa Dugmore to teach in room 24 for the rest of the term. We look forward to Larissa becoming part of our school family.

I hope the children have a restful break. Stay safe and I look forward to seeing everyone back ready to learn and have fun at the start of term 3.

SPLASH POLO YEARS 3-6

Registrations for Term 3’s Splash Polo competition are open on Kindo. Preference will be given to returning players from Term 2.  We are looking at Year 3 and 4 players particularly, as our numbers were a bit thin towards the end of the term. Games are played on a Sunday afternoon at the Millennium Centre. All other relevant information is on Kindo.

NORTHERN BAYS CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

Last week we took a team of runners to compete in the Northern Bays Cross Country Championships held at Long Bay Regional Park. Once again our school did us proud and won the trophy for the overall best performing school. With over 50 children in each race, we had some outstanding achievements. Thank you to the parents who helped with transport and for your wonderful support for all of our runners.

NETBALL

Last Wednesday, our three Year 6 netball teams participated in the annual North Harbour Netball Tournament. We had some fantastic results with our 6/1 team coming runners up in  the A Grade final against Belmont School. There were close to 80 teams competing, so this was an outstanding achievement.

Thanks to all of the parents, coaches and umpires who gave up their day to support our players.
