Principal’s News

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we move through term 4 we are continuing to encourage our wonderful children to use their PRIDE values in all aspects of school life. Our PRIDE values of Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Diligence and Excellence are very important to us at school and are displayed on the posts by our main entrance. We love giving our PRIDE certificates when we catch children showing our values, these are then displayed in the office, before coming home with the children. It is certainly one of the highlights of my day to see our values being shown around our school. In the last two weeks, the children who have gained these awards are: Eli Sharples, Damon Lynch, Levi Bloem, Logan Bloem, Frankie Fagan, Louis Farr, Mohamed Hafez, Rory Aranky, Matthew Cruttwell, Brighton Burns, Tom Hulme, Finn Durbin, Zion Hsu, Zach Stephens, Ron Yao, Lincoln Henley.

Building Work

After many years of discussions with the Ministry we are finally able to have the renovation work started on the classroom block by the Junior playground. This work will begin tomorrow and we have a finish date towards the end of March. The area will be fenced off during the renovations. This will mean no access between that block and the library. We retain the junior playground throughout, but lose access from the playground to the field. While we will have some minor disruptions to the site, in the long term this will give us an amazing space for our children to learn.

Donations and Activity Fees

I’d like to say thank you to those who have made their school donation and paid the activity fees, without your contributions, we couldn’t offer the sporting, cultural or educational opportunities we can at Greenhithe School. If you need to still make your donation or pay the activity fee for term 4, please log into your Kindo account, where contributions can be made.

Book Week

Book week has been a great success and I’d like to thank Gabriella Aranky for her hard work and organisation. I have loved seeing the passion for reading being ignited. We have had Graci Kim, a wonderful author,  visit us and talk to our senior children. I know they enjoyed the opportunity to hear from her. The book sales will continue in the library until Wednesday morning. Please note that access to the library will only be through the door by the turf, due to the renovation work.

Enrolments

It’s lovely to see the children visiting and starting school with us. We are filling our existing classes rapidly! If you have a child who will start with us during term 4 or in 2023, please contact the school. Enrolment forms are available on the school website. If you have friends who may also have children starting with us next year, please encourage them to get in touch (09-4139838 or [email protected]).

Our Touch competition started last night. It was great to see so many children out there having a go and at the same time having fun! Thank you to all of the parents who have put their hand up to coach or manage a team, it is greatly appreciated. Nicky Wallace who runs the Touch module, is looking for more Touch referees both adult and student. If you or any of your older children are interested in joining the referees team, please contact Nicky on 021 289 3678. Referees will be trained and are paid.
