Principal’s News

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Congratulations to the children who have been awarded a PRIDE certificate in the last week. It is always lovely to see our school values being used around our school. In the last little while, these children have been awarded a certificate: Riley Maskell, Nikita Strombeck, Madison Boyd, Jessie Bruce, Isla Willoughby

School Hats

In term 4 the wearing of a school hat is compulsory. While we do have shaded areas, it is not an option for children to not wear the hat and be under the shade sails instead. Please ensure your child has a NAMED SCHOOL hat. The hat is part of our uniform so it needs to be a school hat. Children without a hat may be asked to sit in an area outside their classroom in the shade.

School Events

In the last couple of weeks we have seen lots of children enjoy school events. We have held athletics days and many classes have been out on trips or have experiences coming up. I’d like to thank those parents who have helped at these events or trips or have come along to support the athletics days.  The children love having you as a helper or supporter at these experiences, and it is great to be able to get back to offering these experiences for our children.

School Pool

We are proud of our pool and continue to ensure it is maintained up to the required standards to be safe and usable. The pool has required some significant work to be able to continue to have it as a resource at our school. The work has been going on for a little while, and like most projects, we are suffering with lack of materials and availability of the suitably skilled experts to do the work. The work on the pool will continue over the summer, meaning we will be unable to offer the pool as a resource this summer break to the community. We are also continuing to work through the increasingly complex health and safety and Ministry of Education guidelines to ensure we can continue to operate the pool in a safe manner for our children. We look forward to the children being able to use the pool in term 1, as part of our Health and PE programme.

Reminder-Teacher only day on Friday 25th November- Please contact the YMCA, who will be onsite that day to provide a ‘holiday programme if parents require child care.

ATHLETICS

Our Senior School Athletics were held on Tuesday at Wainoni Park. Thank you to all the wonderful parents who helped with walking children down to the park and/or helped with an activity for the day. It was very much appreciated.

We will be sending a team of children to compete at the Northern Bays Super Cluster Athletics on Tuesday 29th November. The results from this day will be published in the next school newsletter.

CONGRATULATIONS

Olivia from Room 15 who recently ran in the kids Auckland marathon (2km)  and won her age category – 1st of 204 competitors!  Olivia’s time was the 19th fastest out of 615 runners which included 12 year old boys and girls.

Other than the appalling weather it was a great day and Olivia enjoyed competing in her first Auckland marathon event. Way to go Olivia, we are super proud of you.

Caleb from Room 25 recently was awarded player of the year for his football team. Toby also from Room 25 was awarded the Fair Play award and Wyatt from Room 11 the Most Improved player.

Pictured here are Caleb, Wyatt and Toby.  Well done boys 🙂
