Principal’s News

Dear parents,

Our PRIDE values of Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Diligence and Excellence are very important to us at school. The children are reminded about what these values look like in many contexts around our school, including in the playground, on the sports field and when learning in the classroom. The leadership team of myself, Kelly Knowles and Michelle Butler give out PRIDE certificates when we catch children obviously showing our values, these are displayed in the office, before coming home with the children. It is one of our highlights to see these values being shown around our school. We acknowledge those children who get these awards in the newsletter. In the last two weeks, the children who have gained these awards are: Ivy Dakers, Cody Stephens, Rewan Tonkin, Yuvin Sarkar, Oscar Hou, Bella Henley

School Events

Cluster Swimming Event: It was great to see our children compete so well in the cluster swimming event held at Coatesville School. I’d like to thank Sharon Hilton-Jones for her organisation of the whole meeting, and Natasha Alexander and Michelle Butler who also supported  at this event.  Every time our children compete in these events their efforts and talent always make me so proud of them!

Shore to Shore Fun run/walk: We have the Shore to Shore fun run this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing the kids finish and we will have some refreshments ready for our school athletes at the end!

Digital Safety and Awareness for Parents in the home – Thursday 30th March – 6pm – 7.15pm in the school hall. This evening will inform parents about digital safety online and share information regarding the possible poor mental health outcomes associated with the misuse  and overuse of digital devices.

School Protocols

Thank you for supporting our health and safety protocols for adults on site. These are important so we know who is at school and to ensure the safety of your children.

.Please remember:

  • To drop any items to the office like swimming togs or a lunch box.
  • To call into the office if you are picking your child up for an appointment or to leave early. The office staff will then send for the child to meet you up at the office, this ensures we know who is on site at any time.

School Donations and Activity Contributions

These donations and contributions allow us to be able to run special days at school, have amazing trips for your children and keep the swimming pool running! Thank you for supporting us to give your child the best opportunities we can.

School Donation – $55 per term or $220 for the whole school year (this is the same as previous

years, however the discount for early payment has been removed). The amount for 3rd or

subsequent children will remain at $37.50 per term or $150 for the whole school year.

Classroom Activity Contributions – $40 per term or $160 for the whole school year.

Kindo is our preferred method for all your school payments. We also have links for you to follow on our school website in the Community Connect section or in the drop down on the Info tab.

If you have any trouble setting up your Kindo account, please follow the help links on the Kindo website.

Enrolments

We have recently visited our local kindergarten and other ECE providers and hosted an event for them at school. We are very lucky with the quality of these facilities. We have chatted to them about talking to their parent groups about ensuring that they remind parents to enrol with us early. The recruitment of a quality teacher takes time.  The earlier we know we are starting a new class, the better chance we have of recruiting the best teachers for your children!

It’s lovely to see the children visiting and starting school with us. We are filling our existing classes rapidly! If you have a child who will start with us during term 2 or later in 2023, please contact the school. Enrolment forms are available on the school website. If you have friends who may also have children starting with us this year, please encourage them to get in touch (09-413 9838 or [email protected]).

 HOCKEY

Hockey registrations are still open on Kindo. Hockey is played after school on a Monday and is for all Years 3-6 children. Games are held at the North Harbour Hockey Centre, Bush Road, Rosedale. The competition starts in Term 2 and runs through to the end of Term 3.

NETBALL

Netball teams were named yesterday and today for the Year 5’s. If your child does not have a coach or a manager, can you please consider taking on this role. Without parent help, wewon’t be able to enter the team into the competition.

RIPPA

Rippa registrations are now open on Kindo. Rippa is for all children Years 3-6. There are two tournaments held at Moire Park Massey – one in term two and one in term three. The cost is $10. These tournaments are held during school time and practices are held during lunchtime or before school. We also need any parents who could help by coaching a team – it does not need to be every week, these two tournaments are lots of fun and it is all about giving it a go as there are no competition points given.

TOUCH

Congratulations to all the Touch teams who participated in the Massey Module this term. Thanks to all the coaches and managers for your hard work. Greenhithe did incredibly well and won best overall school!
