Principal’s News

Dear parents and caregivers,

It was great to see so many parents and families at our event to celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori at our school. We hope you enjoyed seeing and taking part in the activities in each of the classrooms!

Building Works

In the next week or so we will complete the work on Block 8, the classes at the front of the school. These will be a real asset to us and be used for our New Entrant classes each year. We also hope to have our new Junior Playground underway very shortly as well. These are exciting developments and continue to develop our site to provide amazing facilities for our children.

Thank you for your patience while we upgrade the admin and office area. The work is progressing well! Please remember to call in to the temporary office to drop any items for your child or if you are picking them up for an appointment.

During the upcoming school break there will be some drainage work occurring on the school site. If your children do come on our site during the holidays, please talk to them about staying away from the fenced site.

Ministry of Education Teacher Only Day

We have a Ministry of Education assigned teacher only day in term 4. Every school will be using this day to prepare staff for implementation of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum. Our school is taking this day on Friday 24th November. We have liaised with some local schools to ensure our day will align to make this easier for you. Therefore Greenhithe School will be closed for students on the 24th November.

SPORT FOR TERM FOUR

Registrations are now open for Touch on Kindo. Touch is for all Years 1-6 children and  is played on a Wednesday afternoon at Moire Park Massey after school. All other relevant information is on Kindo.

We have recently formed a touch committee composed of Emily Tromp, Claire Steele and Sam Rowe, so if you need to ask any questions you can email [email protected] and one of our committee members will get back to you.

HOCKEY

We are running the hockey lunchtime sessions for all Years 0-3 children again starting on Monday 9th October for six weeks. This is being taken once again by one of our wonderful keen hockey parents Anil Nathoo. You can register through Kindo.

Last term, Anil did not charge his time for taking these sessions and donated all the money to the school. We bought a set of hockey goals which were used extensively by our hockey teams in the latter part of the season. Thank you Anil.

TERM FOUR ROUND UP

We have had a busy winter of lots of sports being played. It is so good to see so many children representing our school either after school or on the weekend.  I just wanted to thank anyone who has helped with coaching, managing or being a supportive parent on the sideline this season. Without you, our children wouldn’t be having so many wonderful sporting opportunities.

Here are the results for our Hockey teams. Thank you Nui McGregor for doing an outstanding job coordinating these teams.
