Principal’s News

Dear parents,

Our PRIDE values of Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Diligence and Excellence are very important to us at school. The leadership team of myself, Kelly Knowles and Michelle Butler give out PRIDE certificates when we catch children obviously showing our values, these are displayed in the office, before coming home with the children. It is one of our highlights to see these values being shown around our school. The students who have been awarded these PRIDE certificates this week are: Felix Zhu, George Hou, Grace Wilson, Chloe Jelicich, Lukah Toa Jackson-Lopesi, Ryder Vaaga.

It was my privilege to attend the cluster swimming sports, held at Coatesville School.  Our children did an amazing job, swam hard and, as always, represented our school with sportsmanship and displayed great behaviour. Greenhithe School won the sportsmanship award for the event. Whenever our children represent our school I always receive comments about how wonderful they are! This makes me a very proud principal! I would like to acknowledge the work of Natasha Alexander for organising the swimming sports this year, with the support of the rest of our amazing team of teachers at Greenhithe School.

Scooter/ Pedestrian Safety

While I do see a lot of our children using their scooters sensibly and crossing roads carefully, I have also had a few messages from parents regarding children stopping not on road junctions.

Please have a chat with your child if they scooter independently to school about looking for and taking care around pedestrians and road crossings. We also ask that the children walk scooters and bikes once they enter the school site. I appreciate your support in keeping all of our community safe.

If your child walks with other children or alone, can you please talk to them about using the crossings, both before and after school. I would also ask that parents walking their children use our crossings, rather than cutting across the Greenhithe road roundabout. Please help us to set a great example of road safety and keeping safe for all the children.

A big thank you to our volunteer children and their families who run our crossings in the morning and afternoon to keep our community safe!

Morning Routines

Our 8.45 bell is our settling bell for the students, and parents are asked to be off-site at this time, in order for the students to prepare for the day. Thank you for your support in this.

Donations

A massive thank you to those who have already made their suggested donation and activity contribution.  These are vital to ensure we can support your child’s learning at school..

Our 2024 contribution requests remain unchanged from last year and are as follows:-

School Donation – $55 per term or $220 for the whole school year.  The amount for 3rd or subsequent children will remain at $37.50 per term or $150 for the whole school year.

Classroom Activity Contributions – $40 per term or $160 for the whole school year.

Kindo is our preferred method for all your school payments and the following pages have all the information you need for setting up your account if you are a new family to Greenhithe School or you were unable to set an account up last year.  We also have links for you to follow on our school website in the Community Connect section or in the drop down on the Info tab.

Greenhithe PTA

The Greenhithe School PTA are busy in planning mode for 2024 and would like to share some of the exciting activities we will be running.

As per our previous years we will run the Second-Hand Uniform sale and Pizza lunches, support the school athletics days and Cross Country with iceblocks and sausages.  There will be a School Disco, a Movie Night held in the hall which we will run a survey that the children can vote for the movie they want to watch, Quiz night for the parents, Summer Festival will go ahead in December as well. Over the course of this year the PTA will be organising a Greenhithe School cookbook and asking families for their favourite recipes plus we will have a Maths-a-thon to round out the curriculum during Term 3-4.

We meet monthly on a weekday evening to discuss all things related to school life, provide a forum for community feedback, and fundraise for additional school resources. Our ultimate goal is to continue to grow and nurture the great positive community we have within the school and wider Greenhithe.

Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to come and participate. All of these wonderful initiatives need community support, so please reach out via our email ([email protected]) to find out more!

Pop along to the next meeting on March 26 in the school staffroom.
